Runway Looks for Less: Whit Fall 2011

Holiday party season is here which means it’s time to scour your closet and favorite stores for the perfect party looks. With all the styles of parties (casual, party, formal), It’s hard to come up with multiple one-of-a-kind looks. Luckily, Whitney Pozgay’s collection, Whit, has provided us with a runway full of inspiration.
The Whit Fall 2011 collection was inspired by “a girl playing dress up.” To this end, Pozgay focused on playing with proportion and detail to create a ladylike feel. The collection is filled with simple yet statement-making ensembles that are perfect for making an entrance at any holiday party.
Want to get Whit’s unique, ladylike looks? Keep reading for our recreations:

Look #1: Metallic Pants

This look perfectly toes the line between casual and fun. The metallic pants give it a fun, unexpected feel while the perfect striped sweater keeps it casual. Here, Pozgay has created a look that is perfect for day or night.

Getting the Look

To recreate this casual-chic party look, start with these metallic tweed trousers and pair them with a navy striped sweater. Accessorize with basic black pumps and a fringe chain necklace. For a bag, try a unique studded “egg”-shaped clutch. Add a bit of edge to the look with this two-toned leather jacket, and finish with a red lip.

Look #2: Winter-ize Your Shorts

Shorts aren’t typically considered cold weather wear, but when layered correctly, as seen here, they become winter-perfect. Above Pozgay creates a look that styles shorts perfectly for the winter. Thanks to details like thigh-high socks, shiny oxfords, and a pretty cardigan, this look has a chic, school girl feel.

Getting the Look

To get this simple look, start with a pair of tan tie-waist shorts and layer them over polka dot opaque tights. Pair the shorts with a yellow turtleneck and a black knit cardigan. To get the school girl effect, layer on a pair of grey thigh-high socks and add some black oxfords. Keep accessories to a minimum, adding just a rose gold watch. For warmth, layer on this camel winter coat.

Look  #3: Feminine Tux

A feminine tuxedo is not only trendy but unexpected – perfect for wowing at your next holiday party. Here, Pozgay creates the perfect feminine tuxedo, by pairing a beautiful skirt suit with a feminine take on the bow tie.

Getting the Look

Start building this outfit with a white bow tie blouse and pair it with a black pleated skirt. Layer it all with a black blazer. Cover your legs with a pair of opaque black tights or even black lace tights, and for shoes, add a pair of black suede mary janes. Accessorize with jeweled bangles and decorative black earrings. Finish the look off with a fun pink lip. Also, you can add some color to this whole ensemble with a red peacoat. This would be a great look for your formal parties. You’ll be sure to stand out!
